Malibu or Miami for Summer getaway with girlfriend

My girlfriend and I want to spend some time on the beach during the summer. She hasn’t spent a lot of time in the beach growing up. She’s Canadian-born and spent most her life there so it’s all ice for her than waves and sand. Her parents met in an international dating social event and when they got married her mom migrated to Canada from China. After college she moved here in New York for better opportunities. 

Given all that, I want to treat her to some well-deserved beach time. Should I bring her to Malibu or should we go to Miami? I believe tickets to Hawaii during the summer is too expensive so it’s kind of out of the picture.
